The Duchess of Sussex is pregnant, Kensington Palace has announced.

The duke and duchess, who announced the "happy news" ahead of their 16-day tour of Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand, are "delighted", a spokesman said. The duchess, who is said to be in good health, is due in the spring.
The couple informed the Queen and other members of the Royal Family on Friday when they gathered in Windsor to celebrate the wedding of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank.

A spokesman said: "Their Royal Highnesses are very pleased to announce that the Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in spring 2019.

"Their Royal Highnesses very much appreciate all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share their happy news.

"The Queen, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall, and Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted for the couple."

"Ms Doria Ragland is very happy about the lovely news and she looks forward to welcoming her first grandchild."
A source said the Royal family were told the news on Friday at the wedding of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, and were able to congratulate the couple there in person.

The Palace did not comment on whether Thomas Markle, the Meghan’s father, has been told.

Grant Harrold, a former butler to Charles, William and Harry, tweeted: "Congratulations to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex who are expecting their first child in the spring."

Woody Johnson, the US ambassador to the UK, was among the first to respond to the royal baby, tweeting: "Happy news to wake up to on a Monday morning - congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex!!"

The duke and duchess arrived in Sydney on Monday ahead of a 16-day tour which will take in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga.
The duchess, who turned 37 in August, will still visit Fiji and Tonga despite the presence of the Zika virus, with a spokesman saying they had taken medical advice.

Harry and Meghan were married at Windsor Castle in May and the news of the duchess's pregnancy was announced on the eve of their first tour outside the UK and Ireland.

The couple were last seen together on Friday at the wedding of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank at Windsor Castle. The Duchess turned to her own wedding dress designer, Clare Waight Keller at the house of Givenchy for her guest outfit - a refined navy blue coat and dress. Read more ...
