“To the beat of the rhythm of the night, dance until the morning light,” was part of the chorus from DeBarge’s signature hit song “Rhythm of the Night.” The musical group was one of Motown Records' most successful acts of the 1980s.

They consisted mainly of members of the DeBarge family and released six studio albums from 1979 to 1989. But due to personal and legal issues and changing musical tastes, the group disbanded.
