Pio Fenton described how prejudice continues only because we continue to feed it and how we have choices about this in our future city in "Society, Prejudice and Suicide".
Pio Fenton is the Regional Director of Samaritans in Ireland (NI and ROI) with responsibility for the delivery and development of the emotional support service throughout the island. This role, which is a volunteer position, involves leading the organisation and its 2000 volunteers in Ireland and follows on from his role as Director of Cork Samaritans. Pio currently works as a lecturer in Business at Waterford Institute of Technology having completed a PhD in Computer Science at Cork Institute of Technology in 2006. He has been a volunteer with Samaritans since 2004 and lives in Blackrock in Cork City.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.
