but Israel says a Palestinian barrage had caused the blast.

3. Public fury erupts at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
over the government’s failure to prevent the recent massacre by Hamas gunmen.

4. Republican Jim Jordan lost his first U.S. House speaker vote. Another vote is scheduled for Wednesday.

5. Russian President Vladimir Putin praised Chinese President Xi Jinping for the Belt and Road Initiative and invited global investment in the Northern Sea route, which he said could deepen trade between east and west.
