Versions of the Volvo XC40 R-Design with a host of sporty touches including a high-gloss black front grille, front and rear lower bumper sections, black roof and exterior mirrors, and dual integrated tailpipes. They also received a reinforced sports suspension and 18-inch diamond-cut, matt black alloy wheels. Inside, there are leather / nubuck upholstery, front seat cushion extensions, a perforated leather steering wheel and shift knob, and aluminum inserts on the dashboard.
Versions with lettering put an emphasis on luxury and come with leather upholstery, power tailgate, front parking sensors, power driver's seat, driftwood interior inserts and chrome exterior accents. The automatic versions also come with a crystal gear lever from Swedish crystal manufacturer Orrefors.
Each version of the Volvo XC40 is also available in a special Pro form. Key features of the Momentum Pro include the power driver's seat, heated front seats and heated windshield, and active flexing headlights with adaptive shading technology that block part of the headlight beam to avoid dazzling vehicles in front.
The R-Design Pro benefits from it all along with 20-inch alloy wheels, while the Inscription Pro has 19-inch wheels and an electric passenger seat.
The Xenium add-on package is available for the entire range and includes a panoramic glass sunroof with electric tilt and slide, a 360o all-round parking camera system and Park Assist Pilot, which includes automatic parallel parking and 90o parking.
Pilot Assist, Volvo's innovative semi-autonomous driving feature, is an optional extra for every Volvo XC40. It assists with steering (up to 80 mph) and takes care of acceleration and braking to keep the vehicle within the lane markings and at the desired speed or distance from any vehicle in front. Pilot Assist is another step towards fully autonomous driving.
Other desirable options include wireless mobile charging, smartphone integration that includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a Harman Kardon sound system that integrates 13 speakers, advanced audio processing software, and 1200W output power.
