Unlearning Childhood | Biswajit Sahoo | TEDxDAVSchoolU8

video thumbnail
Childhood is a great time for most people. But it’s often seen that childhood experiences sadly traumatize children as they inherit all the wrong notions and biases of society along with them. In return, the number of problems and challenges keep increasing with the growing age. Biswajit, a twelfth grader, explains how unlearning is the best way for adolescents to overcome all myths that they might have learnt from their surroundings. And in an age of creativity and technology, it’s necessary that teenagers start this unlearning process so that they always have room for bigger and better things. Currently in Grade 12, Biswajit is an ambivert who finds deep interests in political, gender and social sciences. A fervent foodie who loves to cook, he is deeply into debates, MUNs and various public speaking activities and can talk with you about anything for hours. Being a part of various NGOs and collectives he has been reaching out to help people and make changes at his level since he was a small kid with the belief that whatever little privilege we have, we have to make sure that we serve the world at our level best. A resistant mind to any type of stereotypes he has always tried to raise his voice for the correct, whether as a part of the school cabinet or a student volunteer. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
