#292 Fatal Fury Wild Ambition (PSX) Hidden Characters (1/2): Mr. Karate playthrough. |
|
A playthrough of the hidden boss and hidden character Mr. Karate in the PS1 version of SNK's Fatal Fury Wild Ambition.
Because I have so few 3D SNK games to cover, I thought it appropriate to show the hidden characters from the PS1 port of Wild Ambition, which itself added one hidden character in the form of Duck King, and one hidden boss in the form of Mr. Karate. Given that Fatal Fury takes place about 20 years or so ahead of the Art of Fighting storyline, SNK decided upon a stroke of genius and included Mr. Karate in this port, played this time by Ryo Sakazaki instead of Takuma, something they would repeat for their fighting game Buriki One. He's as you would probably expect him to play; playing like he did back in classic Art of Fighting. As a hidden boss he's definitely one of the easier characters to go through the game with, with his hien shippuu kyaku in this game able to counter most attacks in an instant. That said, this game is quite difficult, and its AI about as obnoxious as that of Virtua Fighter 2. This port didn't get great reviews, and it's quite easy to see why. Still, I thought it was at least worthwhile to include the difference in hidden content between the arcade and PS1 versions of the game, if only for frame of reference. Mr. Karate's a good referential addition to the game at least, which quite frankly is what SNK is best at. |
