This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. TEDxJaffa partnered with The British Council [http://www.britishcouncil.org.il/en], which connects people with learning opportunities and creative ideas from the UK. BIRAX [http://www.britishcouncil.org.il/en/programmes/science/birax] (the Britain Israel Research and Academic Exchange Partnership) is a £10 million initiative of the British Council and British Embassy in Israel that funds cutting-edge research using stem cell therapies to tackle some of the world’s most dreadful diseases.

Hailing from Jerusalem, Inbar Amir is an artist and an educator. Her artistic work ranges from acting and directing to scriptwriting and playwriting. Inbar also uses theatre as a medium in workshops she leads on conflict resolution, public speaking, group dynamics and beyond.

Inbar wrote, directed and acts in the play Just be You that engages with the age-old question of what it means to be a woman. The play has been performed at numerous festivals throughout Israel and broadcast on national radio.

Inbar's recent new play,"10th grade", was chosen by the Israeli Original Playwright Development Foundation for year 2014.

Additionally, she frequently writes and performs Tailor-Made according to Size performances, plays that run only once in unique locations throughout the country, intended for specific audiences.

For Inbar, the stage and the written word serve as paths for her to meaningfully connect with people.

Inbar's talk explores the tension between freedom of choice and the ability to commit to one's choices. Comparing and contrasting her own life to that of her grandmother, Fortuna Constantina, who married at age 14, Inbar takes the audience on a hilarious journey through her own realization that she wants to learn from her grandmother's ability to make a choice and stay committed to it always.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
