Time for the kiddos to have their own space. They are so excited. We are building crib mattress (toddler bed) bunk beds to go in our room for them. We made up our own plans and this is how it fits us best. There are lots of modifications you can do to this simple design. DISCLAIMER: Bunk beds aren't recommended for small children. Know your kiddos and think about if they are going to play on these or try to jump off. I know my kids won't, so we are going ahead with this build. You can also make this taller and add extra rails.

MATERIALS:
1 - 1x8x8 board
4 - 1x8x6 boards
4 - 2x4s
2- 1x4x6 boards
1 - 1x4x8 board (if your adding the top rail to the ends you'll need to get another 1x4 board but you'll only need 22 1/5 more inches.
1 box of 1 1/4 pocket hole screws
40 or so 1 1/4 wood screws
KREG pocket hole jig and clamp

CUTS:
4 - 2x4 (55 inches)
4 - 1x8 (22.5 inches)
4 - 1x4 (22.5 inches
4 - 1x8 (51.5 inches)
2 - 1x4 (51.5 inches)
2 - 1x2 furring strips (51 inches)
18-20 1x2 or 1x3 furring strips(27 1/4 inches)
