In this video, Mahalo expert Sean Hewitt explains how you can speed up the performance of your PC by defragmenting your hard drive. How to Increase Your Disk Speed --------------------------------------------------------------------- Defragmenting your hard drive is one of the best and easiest diagnostic functions to perform in order to help speed up your PC. To begin, click on the Start Menu, click on Computer in the right side bar, right-click on the C: drive and click Properties in the drop-down menu. In the Properties box bring up the Tools tab and click on Defragment now. In this box you would choose the drive you wish to defragment by clicking on it (C: in the video), then choosing Defragment disk at the bottom of the window. Defragmenting your hard drive can take anywhere between 10 minutes and 3 hours, or longer depending on the disk's size and file capacity. During this time it is advised that you don't use your computer as that can hinder the defragmenting process, and turn off any processes that may be running in your task bar as well. You also definitely do NOT want to turn your computer off, either. It's always a good idea to Configure schedule if you want. Click on the link to set the Frequency, Day, Time and/or Disks for the defragmenting process to take place. During defragmentation, all of the files that exist on your computer's drive are being analyzed and organized in a manner that will allow you to access them faster.
