Morning Minute: Health Care Disparities in the African American Community

On February 22nd, the School of Business at Edgewood College hosted a panel session discussion on "Health Care Disparities in the African American Community." Health care experts discussed how to improve health care disparities in the African American community in such areas as infant mortality rates, mental health services, patient education and health care services and more. "So often we see agencies or entities come into the African American community and say, 'We want to solve infant mortality,' but you're not talking to black women or their families. We haven't informed the process...or maybe agencies haven't accepted that disparities are real and inequalities are real," Lisa Peyton-Claire, founder and president of the Foundation for Black Women's Wellness, said.
