NEW GIANT LAVA Eruption in Iceland. Fagradalsfjall Volcano Eruption (June 1, 2021) |
|
Fagradalsfjall Volcano Eruption (June 1, 2021). The lava fountaining episodes at the active vent at Fagradalsfjall continue pretty similar to what I described in my last report: pulsating lava fountains producing lava jets that barely reach 150 meters in height in average. The pauses between each fountaining episode are oscillating between 5 and 7 minutes long, with the fountaining phase lasting for 1-2 minutes.
The lava fields are mainly developing in Meradalir and Geldingadalir. • Not many changes have been observed instead in Syðri-Meradalur except for an overflow from the lava pond occurred last night. That produced a lava flow that moved parallel to the western side of the lava field, along the base of the viewpoint-hill, reaching the western dam before stopping in the early morning. • In Nátthagi the lava field is not active at the moment. • The lava field in Geldingadalir wasn't as active as it was during my last visit on Thursday the 27th, but it's still gradually getting thicker, the front at the southern is still slowly expanding and many skylights are visible. Also, compared to my last visit, lava is even closer to Path A at the base of the viewpoint-hill where the crowd gathered to watch the lava fountains, which is the reason why the hill is now closed. Lava was not moving there yesterday, but this may change at any moment. • The largest amount of lava anyway flowed in Meradalir during the last couple of days. ✊ SUBSCRIBE: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCuZVW8Po5shjjg7hWDDVQSg #LavaFlow #Fagradalsfjall #Geldingadalur #Iceland #volcano2021 #Fagradalsfjall #volcano #naturaldisasters #news #volcanoeruption #etnavolcano #eruption #volcanology #nature #worldnews |
