Earthquake in Nepal: Delhi and Bihar Tremble in the Wake of Powerful Quakes | Nepal | Breaking News |
|
A magnitude 6.1 earthquake struck Nepal's capital, Kathmandu, with its epicenter in Dhading at 7:39 am. Tremors were felt in the Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. Fortunately, there have been no reports of casualties or damage. Nepal frequently experiences earthquakes due to the convergence of the Tibetan and Indian tectonic plates, which move closer by two meters every century, releasing pressure in the form of seismic activity. The most devastating of these was the 2015 earthquake, measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale, and its aftershocks, which claimed around 9,000 lives. Nepal is ranked as the 11th most earthquake-prone country in the world, according to the government's post-disaster needs assessment report.
