The goal of this video is to make understanding him easier. But please keep in mind there are no shortcuts, and no magic bullets. Ultimately, there is nothing that can replace reading Nietzsche’s works for yourself, and this is what I would encourage you to do. We cover Nietzsche in great depth here on the channel but these videos are not a replacement for thorough reading and study if you’re serious about understanding Nietzsche’s philosophy. But among the great names of philosophy, Nietzsche occupies a strange place. His work is difficult, but not in the way that Hegel, Kant or Heidegger are difficult. For the most part, Nietzsche writes in short sentences, using simple words. Yet this is precisely the trouble. Nietzsche never bothers to be really precise with his terms, and he almost never gives a definition. He trusts that the reader will figure it out for himself. We’ll come back to this problem soon enough. Affiliate disclaimer: at no cost to you, I'll receive a small commission if you buy one of the books listed here in the description.
