* Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana says government has achieved a budget surplus for the first time since 2008.
He tabled the 2024 budget at the Cape Town City Hall yesterday.

* The National Assembly has voted to impeach Western Cape High Court Judge President John Hlophe. 27 MPs voted against and 305 voted in favour of his impeachment - giving the required two-thirds majority for Hlophe's removal from office.The House also voted in favour of the impeachment of retired judge Nkola Motata.296 MPs voted in favour, one voted against and 13 abstained in the vote on Motata's removal from office.

* The owners of the Enyobeni tavern in East London in the Eastern Cape will be back in the local magistrate's court tomorrow.
Siyakhangela and Vuyokazi Ndevu appeared in court yesterday and were found guilty of selling liquor to minors.
This follows the death of 21 young at the tavern, nearly two years ago.
The National Prosecuting Authority says their next step is to argue for an appropriate sentence.
