Trident Volcano Update; Alert Level Raised, Magma is on the Move

video thumbnail
Southwest of the city of Anchorage and east of King Salmon, the alert level of the Trident volcano was raised from green to yellow on September 29th. According to the Alaska Volcano Observatory, either magma or magmatic fluids are moving underneath the volcano. This has generated more than 150 earthquakes, and potentially caused ground uplift. As a result, there is a possibility that an explosive volcanic eruption might occur in the short to moderate term future.

Note: If this volcano does erupt, it would be safest to not visit the volcano. However, you could ask the USGS and other experts, who will likely suggest to keep several miles away from the volcano (I agree with this).
An eruption is not quite imminent, as the volcano's alert level is yellow rather than orange or red.
