Spiders of the Internet | Ravi Tej Guntuku | TEDxLakeTravisHigh

video thumbnail
The invisible, watchful spiders of the internet cannot be seen, but we have all noticed them. How can we protect our privacy while taking full advantage of the digital resources available to us online? Tej Guntuku is concerned about the Orwellian level of surveillance happening on the internet and urges that “we must postulate solutions to this problem” rather than hand over the keys to our privacy. A sophomore in Lake Travis High School, Ravi Tej Guntuku is a passionate student, programmer, writer, and speaker and attempts to combine his interests in producing his work. Tej is a member of LT DECA, CyberSecurity, and the Speech & Debate Team, and in the future wants to spread his ideas as an aspiring entreprenuer. By speaking at TEDx LakeTravisHigh, Tej hopes to inform the Lake Travis community about the hidden spider-like algorithms on the internet and their ramifications to society. Apart from his academics & extracurriculars, Tej enjoys reading, binge-watching TV shows, and stand-up comedy at times, as well as feasting upon various vegetarian cuisine. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
