I often say that EVERY moment of the Siu Lim Tao form has a practical application in fighting. There are no wasted movements in the form, which is why I always encourage students to practice it as much as possible.

To try and inspire students to do so, this new series of very short videos goes through the individual movements of Wing Chun's Siu Lim Tao form and looks at a practical application of it.

Two key points to note:
1) The applications shown are merely ideas. It does not mean that they are the only application, nor are they the "right" application. Again, the purpose is to get students to focus and concentrate on every single movement and build their knowledge - how you apply that knowledge in the future is up to you, and it will come the more you understand you body structures.
2) It does NOT mean though that students should practice Siu Lim Tao visualising these applications, so that their practice turns into some kind of "air sparring" against an imaginary opponent. Do not use muscles, do not stiffen. In practising the form, we seek to improve the optimum structures within ourselves.
