Who knew chickpea flour could make such good tofu!? Chickpeas are one versatile food. In this video I show you a few variations including a smoked chickpea tofu, an herby one and a sweet cinnamon dessert version.
This is actually a version of Burmese Tofu. It cooks up nice and crispy and is even easier to make than the lentil tofu I shared a few weeks back. What did you think of these recipes? In a large bowl whisk together chickpea flour with 2 cups of water and seasonings. Make sure there are little to no lumps. 2. Bring 1 cup of water to a boil in a large saucepan. 3. Once the water comes to a bowl, pour in the flour mixture, turn down to a simmer and stir well for approx 5-7 minutes or until the flour mixture is very thick. 4. Pour into a glass baking dish and smooth over. Put in fridge to cool. 5. Once cooled, cut chickpea tofu into squares or strips and air fry (till crispy) or saute (till brown on either side). This tofu can be marinaded before cooking or cooked plain and served with sauce or dressing. Enjoy! Sweet Chickpea Tofu (makes 2 servings) 1 cup chickpea flour 1 1/4 cup water, divided 1/4 cup maple syrup 1 tsp cinnamon topping: cinnamon and coconut sugar Directions: 1. In a large bowl whisk together chickpea flour with 1 cup of water, maple syrup and cinnamon. Make sure there are little to no lumps. 2. Bring 1/4 cup of water to a boil in a large saucepan. 3. Once the water comes to a bowl, pour in the flour mixture, turn down to a simmer and stir well for approx 5-7 minutes or until the flour mixture is very thick. 4. Pour into a glass baking dish and smooth over. Put in fridge to cool. 5. Once cooled, cut chickpea tofu into squares and toss in cinnamon and coconut sugar.
