What If Caesar Lost? | Alternate History

video thumbnail
Caesar is often remembered as Rome's greatest leader, general, etc. He conquered the whole of neighboring Gaul, securing Rome's immediate border. He rebuilt the destroyed and conquered city of Carthage, once belonging to the Roman Republic's greatest rival, and made it one of the most successful cities in Roman history. And he set Rome on the direct path toward building an Empire, which would be ruled by his adopted son, Gaius Octavian, known today as Augustus. But all of that overshadows the legacy of another man who aspired to be Rome's greatest, only to be shoved aside by Caesar's ascendancy, that man was Gnaeus Pompeius, commonly known today as Pompey, and he alone could have been the man to stop Caesar from ever taking power. He was the man who almost stopped Julius Caesar from rising to power.

Would he have aspired to conquer Germania and Persia as Julius Caesar had before his assassination? Could Pompey even succeed in achieving such ambitious conquest? We'll answer all that in today's alternate history.
