Full professor at the Dipartimento di Informatica of the University of Pisa, specialized in big data analysis, that is the analysis of the digital traces of human activities in order to understand social complexity. His research focus is on social mining and the impact of big data on society: smart cities, mobility, social and economic networks, energy, ethics and privacy, democracy.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.
