Imran Khan has been released from custody after Pakistan's Supreme Court ruled that his arrest was illegal, with his detainment sparking countrywide violence which left at least eight people dead.
The former prime minister is set to spend the night at a police guest house for his protection but will be allowed to meet with a limited number of friends and family.
