The Patriotic Alliance has emerged victorious in yesterday's by-elections, winning wards in Cape Town from both the DA and ANC.

Other results saw the ANC unseat the EFF in Polokwane, while the DA took a ward from the ANC in the Eastern Cape.

Other wards were retained by the dominant parties.
