Making sense of Indian cities | Prof. Gauri Bharat | TEDxDAIICT |
|
Have you ever been fascinated by the oddities and untold stories of Indian cities? How does the idea of mapping cows, roadside shrines, markets in the city and roadside eating habits seem to you?
The extremely articulate talk would make you immerse yourself in the seemingly mundane but actually complex urban phenomena. In this talk we see how by making sense of cities as both sites and processes, we can see what architectural change can tell us about the social, environmental and historical lives of communities and shape personal and collective identities. Dr. Gauri Bharat is the Chair of History, Theory and Criticism and an associate professor at the Faculty of Architecture, CEPT University, Ahmedabad. Her teaching and research focus primarily on how people engage with the built environment. For the past few years now, Gauri has experimented with teaching architectural history and humanities using the city of Ahmedabad as a laboratory. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx |
