How Batteries Will Change the World | Erik Sauar | TEDxArendal

video thumbnail
Erik Sauar holds an MSc in Chemical Engineering, an MA in Anthropology and a PhD in Physical Chemistry. Erik believes that with the current development in battery technology we should soon be able to electrify major parts of our society.

Erik is the CEO of a company that produces silicon-containing nano materials that are planned to be used in the world’s lithium ion batteries in the very near future. Sauar and his team aim to increase the energy density of these lithium ion batteries by 20-30%.

Sauar has a long track record of taking new technologies and products to the market, in particular through his many years as co-founder and CTO of the solar company REC. He has been involved with more than 35 patent applications, and is passionate about technical solutions that can have a large positive impact on the society we live in.
Erik Sauar is the CEO of Cenate AS, a company that produces silicon-containing anode materials that is directly used in today’s lithium-ion batteries. Sauar and his team wants to increase these lithium-ion batteries capacity to 20-40%.

He holds an impressive academic curriculum of a MSC in Chem. Eng., an MA in Anthropology and a Dr. technician degree in Physical Chemistry.

Sauar is constantly on the lookout for potential start-ups that advocates clean technology and has been involved with more than 35 patent applications. He is also very passionate about other technical solutions that can have a large impact on the society we live in. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
