The Māori language community is split over the appointment of Willie Jackson as the representative of urban Māori on Te Mātāwai. Willie Jackson was appointed to the role on Sunday. However, Waihoroi Shortland, who is a member of Te Pūtahi Pāho and is a Māori language advocate, is concerned.
