Mr America, Natural Mr Universe, Personal Trainer John Heart in this video shows how many sets should be done for each body part. Steve Reeves, of Hercules fame, & bodybuilders prior to the Golden Era of Bodybuilding like Arnold Schwarzenegger, performed relatively low numbers of sets per body part 2-3 times per week. Since the 1970's, that became as high as 20-25 sets per body part a couple times per week. High Intensity Training (HIT) advocates like Mike Mentzer and 6x Mr Olympia Dorian Yates recommended 1-5 sets per body part only once per week. Research based recommendations almost always go with somewhere between HIT and the Golden Era numbers with no long term studies. This can be confusing.
Let John simplify everything in an understandable way so that muscle building routines can be fun once again to muscle up and build muscle long term with no injuries.
