Wella Balsam Shampoo Commercial 1980 (Priscilla Presley) |
|
Around the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, Wella Balsam began hiring other actresses and personalities to sell their hair care products.
Here is an ad featuring the wonderful Pricilla Presley. After her divorce from Elvis Presley, Pricilla began to make a name for herself creating a clothing boutique (which became very successful) and becoming the Chairwoman and President of Elvis Presley Enterprises that managed his estate. Pricilla also had an interest in acting at an early age. Ironically Pricilla was offered a role in Charlie’s Angels, a role she declined because she had no interest in the show (Ironic since here she was adversing the same shampoo that Farrah, Jaclyn and Cheryl did). Pricilla would eventually go on to do television and feature film appearances, such as playing Jenna Wade in the TV Show “Dallas” and Jane Spencer in the Naked Gun Trilogy. In 1979, Pricilla became a spokesperson for Wella Balsam. Here is one of her commercials, the only one I can find. I know she did several others, but I can’t find them. Interesting here to note this commercial features a slow motion shot of Pricilla shaking her hair. Farrah and Jaclyn didn’t use slow motion in their commercials (which is sad cause that would’ve been amazing). Some of the Cheryl Ladd ones had the choppy slo-mo, the ones you make in post and not the high speed film kind. It’s unclear as to why they changed direction and decided to use slow motion that was the norm for many shampoo ads in the 70’s, but I’m not complaining. Her hair is beautiful. Also I do have good information that this was the only one of the Pricilla ads that used slo-mo. Her other Wella commercials were like Farrah’s and Jaclyn’s. Sorry fellow hair enthusiasts… |
