Yushin Ryu is a Ryuha of katana skills that teaches Iai, Kenjutsu, and Tameshigiri. We are a two katana style, so we have techniques for just the Wakizashi and also dual katana.

Many things are unique about Yushin Ryu, but I think that the biggest characteristics are the many left-hand draw techniques, and the Women’s Iai.

In the past, it was a rule to always have your katana on your left waist. So generally the katana was meant to be drawn with your right hand. However, as a way to surprise the opponent, our Ryuha teaches various left hand draw techniques that can not be seen anywhere else.

Second, the Women’s Iai are Kata that only women of Yushin Ryu are allowed to perform. The founder of Yushin Ryu wanted to make Ryuha where everyone, young and old, male and female, can shine. However, in the world of Budo, men are generally in a higher position and have not been able to overcome the gender barrier. In order to change those old values, he created "Women’s Iai" and women will always have the opportunity to perform at tournaments and dedication performances.
