Formula One's newest track, Miami, was designed to put racing "first and foremost" according to its designers, Will it be a racing spectacle or another artificial grand prix?
The first Miami Grand Prix will take place in 2022, joining its Texan counterpart in Austin to become the second US race on the calendar – and the 11th different American venue to host a round of the Formula One world championship.

Set in the Hard Rock Stadium complex in Miami Gardens, home to the NFL's famous Miami Dolphins franchise, the track is the result of a development process that simulated no less than 36 different layouts before settling on a thrilling, 19-turn lap that has an exciting street circuit feel likened to Melbourne's Albert Park.

The 5.41km layout, which will be centered on the Hard Rock Stadium, will include 19 corners, three straights, the potential for three DRS zones, and a top speed of 320km/h. There are also elevation changes, the most noticeable of which can be found between Turns 13 and 16, with the track passing over an exit ramp and under various flyovers across uneven terrain. Meanwhile, the Turn 14-15 chicane has an uphill approach with a crest in the middle and then drops down on exit.

Apex Circuit Design from the United Kingdom designed this anticlockwise circuit with an expected lap time of 1m35s and an average speed of just under 220kmh. Apex wanted the track to seriously challenge F1 teams in terms of car setup, so it included both slow-speed sections and high-speed sweeping curves.
