While many people may not know what activism fatigue is, we all have felt it in one way or another - it's the overwhelming sense of doom we feel when learning about the countless crises happening around the world and in our own communities - and it's enough to turn people away from activism. Sadhvi emphasizes why we need to talk about this feeling more often in order to overcome the fatigue and to ensure longevity and sustainability in our activism. Sadhvi Mohankumar is a junior undergraduate student at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) pursuing a biology major with a concentration in social justice. She joined Amnesty International, a human rights organization, at 14 years of age and currently serves as the president for TCNJ's chapter of Amnesty International. As a student activist, she is passionate about raising awareness about various human rights abuses by organizing letter writing campaigns, petitions, protests, and fundraisers. Her advocacy work not only focuses on her community members, but also supports both national and international issues such as assisting with Syrian and Afghanistan refugee relocations. She hopes to continue championing human rights after graduating college specifically by working to address healthcare disparities among minority and underserved communities. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
