Learn how to stay calm under pressure like James Bond (Daniel Craig).

James Bond always knows exactly what to say and how to stay relaxed.

Life is filled with stressful situations. Many of which require staying calm and composed in order to achieve the best results.

Being able to control one’s emotions is critical to becoming more powerful and reaching your goals.

Today we are going to teach you how to manage those inevitable moments and how to control your emotions like James Bond.

Before we begin however be sure to smash the like and subscribe button for the youtube algorithm. Let’s begin.

01:02 Staying calm requires practice - Nobody starts out being unfazed by the world. We all start out scared and unsure.

Even James Bond started out as a regular agent before he was a 00. It takes practice and patience to get good at anything.

Understanding this is the first step to gaining control over your emotions and situations. As discussed in my previous video on how to become someone new all change takes time.

When you get into a tense situation start by thinking about how your actions might affect the future, take a breath, and think logically.

Do this when you feel yourself losing control to emotion and try to respond differently than you normally would. Practice stoicism and realize certain things are out of your control and those things shouldn’t bother you because you have no control over them.

When you start reframing things you will start to see that your emotions are one of the few things you do have control of. Practice this subtle change in thinking at first then start implementing it more and more.

As stated by Robert Greene, power’s crucial foundation is the ability to master your emotions.

02:15 Be witty when possible - Once you start changing your thinking and practicing being more in control of yourself there are some techniques everyone can learn to better control the frame.

Humor is a great way to lighten the mood when appropriate. If done correctly it will convey that you aren’t nervous about the current situation and will make everyone else feel more comfortable as well.

James Bond is a master of this and uses this tactic quite often like in this clip where he is with a married woman and her husband calls {insert 39:00 casino royale}.

This is one of Bond’s most used techniques, anytime he is being tested whether it be a romantic interest or someone trying to kill him. It also has the effect of disarming people as they don’t expect you to react that way in a tense situation.

03:32 Fake it until you make it - Because you’re not going to be good at everything you do and some situations will be more difficult than others, it’s best to pretend you aren’t nervous when you make a mistake or something is challenging. Now, this doesn’t mean pretending you are good at everything but simply feigning confidence in an uncomfortable situation.

We see Bond do this at the end of Casino Royale when M calls to ask him if he’s going to deposit the money he won during the poker game. The money he had thought he already transferred but was actually stolen.

Feigning confidence will make you appear more trustworthy too as you come across as someone who is dependable and has leadership qualities. With time you will gradually reach the level of competence needed to no longer require you to fake it. In the event that you do lose your frame simply admit you aren’t very good at something while remaining lighthearted.

04:36 Maintain your body language - Whether James Bond is being interrogated, fighting, flirting, or even just playing poker his body language never waivers.

He never leans in when people are talking and instead makes them lean into him. He always maintains perfect eye contact and then adds a cheeky smile to show confidence. He never fidgets or appears nervous, he is completely grounded.

Body language is key to remaining calm and in control of your emotions. It not only makes you look calmer and in control but has a psychological effect because you're mimicking calm body language therefore your mind has an easier time adjusting to that state.

05:37 Be decisive in your actions - When you enter into action with boldness and decisiveness you set the stage for that interaction.

This in turn makes staying calm and focused easier because you’re committed now, there is no turning back. This is the same effect that allows some people to perform their best under pressure.

This also has the illusion of making you appear more confident than you are, due to you appearing certain in your actions even if on the inside you might be dying of anxiety.

06:52 Competence is confidence - The final key to remaining calm in any situation is competence. When you are truly good at something you are naturally more confident and relaxed due to having real experience. Aim to be good at a few things and you will find yourself naturally in your element when doing those activities.
