What is Mindfulness? | Saprea |
![]() |
Mindfulness is purposefully paying attention with kindness and curiosity to the present moment.
It is a healing practice that involves: • Intention: Purposefully making a decision to attend to the present moment. • Attention: Noticing our present emotions, thoughts, sensations, and what is happening around us. • Attitude: Allowing our observations to be non-judgmental, non-striving, patient, kind, curious, and compassionate. Mindfulness prompts you to spend your time in the present moment, to choose to be in the here and now. While this sounds like a very straightforward practice, it’s amazing how often we go through the motions without really being thoughtful about what we are doing. Watch the video to learn more about mindfulness and how it can be beneficial to survivors of child sexual abuse. At Saprea, we liberate individuals and society from child sexual abuse and its lasting impacts. We have services that help child sexual abuse survivors find healing from the traumatic effects that have often followed them into adulthood, as well as resources for parents and caregivers to learn how to lower the risk of child sexual abuse in their own homes and communities.
