Mr Kittipong Kittikachorn confirmed during the press conference that a 73-year-old British passenger was killed on flight SQ321. The plane had to make an emergency landing in the Thai capital due to severe air turbulence. He likely died of a heart attack, the airport chief said.

Dozens were hurt, with seven of them critically injured, he added. Nine crew members were also taken to hospital.

Singapore Airlines has sent 50 staff members to support the passengers in Bangkok.
