SAMURAI LIT: Miyamoto Musashi (Part 2) |
|
In the second edition of the samurai literature series on Miyamoto Musashi, I cover the career and travels of the famous ronin as he walked the "Musha Shugyo" (warrior's pilgrimage). All said and done, the master swordsman racked up a record of 60-0 while dueling as he traveled Japan seeking tests of skill and strength. Whether it was the Yoshioka-ryu school or the infamous "Demon of the West", Musashi reigned supreme in the art of the katana, specifically in the style of the "Two Heavens" (2 handed sword style).
A few passages from his work, "The Book of the Five Rings", are discussed as it pertained to his Bushido from the chapters "Water" and "Fire".
