Today on the Chasing Cashflow Podcast we interview Andrew Thomas! Andrew is a young real estate investor based out of Maryland. Him and his wife started in real estate by securing a 3 unit apartment complex, living in one unit and renting out the other 2. This is otherwise known as house hacking.

While living in their triplex, they fixed up the units one at a time and brought the rents up to market rent. This created sweat equity, later allowing them to pull out a home equity line of credit (HELOC) and do a cash out refinance! With the HELOC and cash out refinance, they purchased a short term rental and a single family home. So with just an initial investment of $25,000, they were able to get a cash flowing triplex, a cash flowing short term rental, and a single family home.
