Make Peace with Your Grief and Watch Where It Leads You | Susan McCorkindale | TEDxTysons

video thumbnail
When author Susan McCorkindale lost her husband to cancer, she knew one thing: how she did not want to handle her pain. She did not want platitudes, and she wanted more than peace. By describing her journey of what she learned from sleepless nights and being still, her talk gives both those who are grieving and those who love them the tools to get the good stuff from grief.

Susan McCorkindale is the mother of two sons, a well-known autism advocate, and the host of the popular You Tube show, Flaws Are the New Black. She is also the author of two memoirs, Confessions of a Counterfeit Farm Girl and 500 Acres and No Place to Hide: More Confessions of a Counterfeit Farm Girl. Susan McCorkindale was born and raised in New Jersey. She loves Bruce Springsteen, the New York Giants, and the Jersey shore. A graduate of Marymount Manhattan College, Susan spent five long, hard minutes pursuing an acting career before making a detour into marketing. She has held top spots at Family Circle and Popular Science magazines, and today is the editor of Haymarket Lifestyle Magazine, Gainesville Lifestyle Magazine, and The Business Voice.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
