Dr. Sarah Parcak is an Archaeologist and founding Director of the Laboratory for Global Observation at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Parcak is a recognized expert in the use of remote sensing via satellite imagery analysis to detect archaeological sites, many of which were previously unknown. She is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries, and 2012 TED Fellow. Sarah has written Satellite Remote Sensing for Archaeology (Routledge, 2009), the first methods book to ever appear on the subject of satellite archaeology.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.
