Demonax resisted philosophical systematization, resisted initiation in the Eleusinian Mysteries, did not convert to Christianity, wasn't a stoic, wasn't a cynic, wasn't a Platonist, wasn't a Pythagorean -- because all of these were too closed & finalized in his judgment.
