Yesterday Matt Lawton from the Times broke news that Tottenham Hotspur are facing serious allegations of breaching transfer rules during Jermain Defoe's move from Spurs to Portsmouth in 2008.

The Times claims new evidence shows Spurs dealt with an unlicensed agent while agreeing to sell ex-England striker Defoe to Portsmouth for £7.5million in January 2008.

No action was taken by the Football Association (FA) at the time, but it is understood the governing body are prepared to review the allegations.

Breaches of FA agent rules have previously resulted in point deductions, transfer bans, and suspensions for club officials and at the time Luton Town and Leeds United were punished for similar.

Matt Lawton explained the story on talkSPORT yesterday with agent Sky Andrews and Jim White and Simon Jordan.

Harry Redknapp also at the time did not know the football agent was unlicensed.

The FA could re-open the investigation and punish Tottenham 15 years after the event!

Currently Everton have faced a points deduction for breaching FFP rules (financial fair play) and Chelsea and Manchester City are also under investigation with City having 115 charges.
