Penn Medicine - Ranked among the top in the nation and #1 in Pennsylvania by US News and World Report.
Penn Medicine hospitals have once again been ranked among the top hospitals in the nation by U.S News & World Report. The combined enterprise of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Penn Presbyterian Medical Center was named to the magazine’s prestigious Honor Roll list for the 15th consecutive year, and twelve clinical specialties also received top rankings. HUP-PPMC ranked as the #1 hospital in Pennsylvania and #1 in the Philadelphia metro area, in the 2021-2022 annual survey by the magazine. Out of more than 4,500 hospitals analyzed nationwide, Penn Medicine is among only 20 institutions to be named to this year’s Honor Roll, and the only one in the Philadelphia region. Hospitals must each perform near the top of the rankings in multiple specialties and conditions/treatments in order to earn a place on the Honor Roll. The Hospitals of the University of Pennsylvania-Penn Presbyterian were nationally ranked for excellence in 12 specialties, including Cancer, Cardiology & Heart Surgery, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT), Gastroenterology & GI Surgery, Geriatrics, Gynecology, Neurology & Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Pulmonology & Lung Surgery, Rehabilitation, and Urology. The combined enterprise was also rated as High Performing in 10 of the Common Adult Procedures and Conditions evaluated by the magazine, which include Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair, Aortic Valve Surgery, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Colon Cancer Surgery, Heart Bypass Surgery, Heart Failure, Knee Replacement, Lung Cancer Surgery, Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR). They were also recognized for Back Surgery (Spinal Fusion), Diabetes, Heart Attack, Hip Fracture, Kidney Failure, Pneumonia and Stroke, which are new additions to the ratings this year. Three of Penn Medicine’s other hospitals also earned honors: -Lancaster General Health ranked #4 in Pennsylvania, and nationally ranked in Orthopedics and Urology. -Chester County Hospital ranked #14 in the state, and #8 in the Philadelphia region. -Pennsylvania Hospital ranked #4 in Philadelphia, and #11 in the state. #TopHospitals #PennMedicine #USNews |
