Early Detection Species in Western New York

Learn about three terrestrial early detection invasive species in the WNY PRISM region. Early detection species are only present in a few locations within the region and have a management goal of eradication.Discover how to identify, report and control some important invasive species in the area. Brittany Hernon, WNY PRISM, will discuss slender false brome (_Brachypodium sylvaticum_) and Japanese stiltgrass (_Microstegium vimineum_) identification and Best Management Practices. Garrett Koplun, NYSDEC, and Dr.Kathryn Amatangelo, SUNY Brockport, will talk about the history of mile-a-minute vine (_Persicaria perfoliata_) in the area and current survey and management efforts.
