A New Pathway to Architectural Living

video thumbnail
Challenged by Ruum to find a new pathway to architectural living, Chamberlain Architects turns to an explorative design strategy, crafting homes that will reinforce the lives of their future inhabitants.

Chamberlain Architects were commissioned by Ruum to create a collection of homes in the absence of a prescribed client or site – The First Ruum Collection. The resulting design is guided by the conviction that a successful architectural living environment is supportive and capable of accommodating a variety of lifestyles.

Materiality factors into the vision of architectural living; the interior of the houses feature natural stone, timber and steel while the exteriors incorporate brickwork. The durable material palette of the The First Ruum Collection defines modern architectural living in terms of structural endurance and longevity.

Chamberlain Architects recognises the growing importance of functionality within the notion of contemporary architectural living, employing products by Fisher & Paykel to promote efficiency in each residence. Appliances such as DishDrawers and all-black ovens are seamlessly integrated into the cabinetry, saving space and contributing to the breathable nature of the collection.

The First Ruum Collection is a genuine representation of the design identity of Chamberlain Architects. Comprised of forward-looking homes, the collection tells a compelling story about the future of architectural living.
