Hello there!
After finally overcoming the intense sense of shame attached to this video,
since I told Phenikz I'd do a video to one of his tunes almost 3 YEARS AGO,
I eventually became able to write this whole thing up.
He recently released this tune, which I saw on one of my, what's the total opposite of frequent?,
visits to Instagram these days.
Hearing the tune paired with its name, I instantly had an idea of how to flow this.
This video is NOT that idea. ^^
But, if you so will, its own little evolution.
Which of course like all of evolution, was an accident.
Let's still go back to the beginning, the initial idea.
I just saw me flowing along the riverside promenade in cologne.
I was trying to figure out how could I maintain the constant movement, while recording alone.
Had several ideas. All of them completely over complicated and delusional.
I'm however lucky enough to have a wonderful partner at my side.
She suggested she could help me by filming.
I mean I did also think of that, but in my experience the general answer to my question:
"Hey I have this idea, you wanna do it together?"
Is usually met with a hearty "Yeah!", followed by never hearing from that person ever again.
I'm very well aware of that slight hint of hypocrisy. ^^ (And what that means for me)
Naturally that instantly triggered my fear of abandonment when confronted with Sarah's suggestion.
(ok that might be pretty much over exaggerated, but I thought it was funny)
Weather was shitty for a while so that video version didn't happen yet.
Time was also sparse, so I kinda decided just to wait.
But how did the video end up like this? Why was it made then?
Well obviously I found the solution of just keeping me in the center against no conceivable background,
does in fact create a similar sense of constant motion.
Ironic isn't it?
It's like raaaaaaaaaaiiiiiaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan on a wedding day!
But how? Where's the accident? Where's the missing link?
(Look at that...didn't study geology for nothing after all, after all)
For whatever reason on that fateful day in Arnhem....
Where destiny finally found its way to fulfill this long lost prophecy.

actually happening!...
I turned down the brightness of the recording. That's the accident.
I always have my chapter playlist on shuffle, but still skip around a little.
Then I beheld the mighty letters "Phenikz - Runway" upon my screen...
...in my very own hands.
And just thought: "Maybe I should practice this one? For the real take?"
You see, my mind had finally caught up with my heart. 3 weeks later.
With both finally being on the same page a new idea dawned.
Slumbering in the psychedelic maze that is my brain.
And then suddenly waking up with a good old:
"Ooooooooor...."
And then I did this take. And of course overstepped boundaries.
But hey nobody's perfect.
Why did I make it look the way that I did.
Well just like always I turned some knobs and pushed some buttons.
And somehow ended up with this Lord Of The Rings look.
Not the modern one, but the animated one.
At least it was what it reminded me of.
And for me it works well with the angstiness of the tune.
I decided to actually leave in the ambient sounds plus the speaker sound.
But that car just came in the right moment. ^^
I might not have done this tune the way I usually intended.
But I'm super happy about how it looks and feels.
So it was the perfect tune to show off another one of these frames.
And actually a nice lead into the next video.
Because I do always love and appreciate when a thing from the past gets to shine in a new light.
It will be from a song I already did and uploaded paired with so far unused footage.
But a song that I like so much that I just put it up here again.
Because it's just that good.
Just like this tune is amazing in its own right.
Completely different.
Big big ups to Phenikz for this super interesting dark tune!
And thanks so much for putting an idea into my head.
He's part of the Drop That! Crew which are all really nice guys and throw insane parties.
Someday I will manage to actually get to witness another set of him.
But the last times it was either my own bones throwing a wrench, or just another artist that I just can't not
dance to.
He has been behind the decks at these events for ages and he always comes in with an amazing selection
and a wonderful contrast to the rest of the Drop That! line up.
