Physical Activity Paradox and Workers’ Cardiovascular Health

video thumbnail
The physical activity paradox is an emerging occupational health issue with implications for cardiovascular health promotion at work. The role of leisure-time physical activity in promoting health has been well recognized, however, recent evidence suggests that occupational physical activity (OPA) may be harmful to health, particularly cardiovascular health. The webinar provides an update on evidence from recent OPA-related epidemiological studies in the general working population and pregnant women, as well as a discussion of the underlying pathways. The webinar is intended to increase awareness of the physical activity paradox primarily among public health researchers and clinicians but extending to affected worker populations and the general public.
