Hidden Fortress Karate - the importance of staying relaxed |
|
Force = mass * acceleration. Speeding up your whole mass makes for a more forceful strike. So tensing you’re upper body and trying to push a punch or strike with your upper body muscles cuts out the mass of your lower body and slows technique which will decrease the effective force upon impact. It’s important to relax the upper body, let the stance and hips drive the body center and whip the striking point (fist, foot, etc) toward the target with maximum speed, therefore increasing the total force upon impact.
