The Sad Story Of Johnny Depp...
Johnny Depp is a name most people are familiar with. He’s made over $650 million from his movie contracts alone-- and some people think it’s even more than that. At one point he was spending over $2 million a month. He’s been nominated for 112 separate film and performance awards, winning 45 of them. He has a medal from the Serbian government for his, “Outstanding merits in public and cultural activities…” he hangs out with rock stars, is the face of one of the highest grossing movie franchises of all time, was named World’s Sexiest Man twice, is best friends with Nicholas Cage, was the highest paid actor in the world in 2012, and spends his free time collecting and playing with dolls. The guy might actually be as eccentric as all his roles make him out to be. But the past couple years haven’t been the kindest to Captain Jack Sparrow. Lawsuits with British tabloids, one of the most publicized divorces in history, drug addiction, and controversy after controversy have taken their toll on A-Lister. So what actually happened? Where did it all start? Depp’s career in show business didn’t actually start on the big screen. He fell in love with music at a young age and got his first guitar when he was 12. At the age of 16 he dropped out of high school to pursue his goal of making it big in the music industry. Two weeks after that he came back to school and asked to re-enroll, but his principal told him not to-- instead saying Depp should chase his dreams. That guy either really believed in Johnny, or really hated him. Either way, it was good advice. After Depp’s band moved to L.A. in the hopes of getting signed to a record deal, he married one of his bandmate’s sisters, Lori Anne Allison. She ended up introducing him to Nicolas Cage. While Johnny’s first marriage didn’t last long, his relationship with Cage ended up being invaluable. The already famous film star told Depp to give acting a shot. I don’t care who you are, if the man who stole the Declaration of Independence tells you to do something, you do it. Johnny ended up repaying Cage by offering to pay his debts in 2007. Honestly, their friendship could probably be a movie on its own. Depp’s first acting job was in the famous horror film ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street.’ Though he wasn’t one of the main stars, his time on Elm Street gave him a foot in the door to Hollywood. |
