The Joy of Disabled Sex
In this hilarious and at times vulnerable TEDx talk, comedian Alexandra Hudson shares her experience of owning her sexuality as a woman with cerebral palsy. Alexandra doesn’t take much seriously,
except for her passion of challenging the ideas people have about disability and telling her story. She highlights the discrimination, lack of nuance and ableism that exist around disabled people and their sexuality, exemplified by the outdated laws in the state of Queensland, Australia. Alexandra is the 2022 joint Raw Comedy Competition winner. She shares entertaining little musings about her experiences as a disabled woman and her observations about the mostly foreign non-disabled world she lives in; she finds joy in tipping things on their head. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
