Charles Menges served in northern and southern I Corps, South Vietnam, 1966-1967. In northern I Corps he led Marines in combat. In southern I Corps he was an embarkation chief, responsible for keeping Marine fighting forces supplied. He participated in Operations Hastings, Deckhouse IV, Desoto and others. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1960. He retired from the Corps in 1997 as a Chief Warrant Officer 5.
