It was Joao Almeida who crossed the line victorious at Stage 16 of Giro d'Italia after an epic race in the mountains and nearly 6 hours of cycling. Almeida denied Geraint Thomas of a maiden Giro stage win after narrowly beating him in a sprint finish.
